Our Mission

The primary goal of the Academy is the pursuit of academic excellence combined with the cultivation of Christian virtue in the lives of its students. We believe that mental and physical development are incomplete without accompanying spiritual development. Through the rigorous teaching of traditional academic subjects, we strive to develop thinking skills while shaping character.

The development of a whole person

The best contributors to society are people who combine compassion with competency. Compassion raises us above selfish ambition and points us toward the service of others. Competency - the possession of real knowledge and the ability to communicate it - empowers us to apply that compassion in our lives: at home, in the workplace, and beyond. Within this framework, school becomes something far more than a social machine shooting facts at its students. In fact, it is required that school become a place where the great ideas of history, literature, mathematics, art, science, and all the disciplines combine to develop the whole person. In pursuit of this vision, St. Lawrence Academy has become a school for Everyman - wherein each student's contribution is valued and in fact shared - because each one is unique and precious, in the image and likeness of God.
